PowderMills Walks

The PowderMills Hotel stands in a thickly wooded valley with a small stream, the ‘Asten’ meandering through, next to the historic battlefield of 1066. The stream rises on a high ground to the left of Battle Abbey and runs in a south easterly direction through the Great Park, former residence of the Abbot of Battle and by the way of Crowhurst Valley, straight to the English Channel.

Our fabulous grounds are available for you to explore including three walks varying in distance and we can provide complimentary maps to help guide you. We have a short walk around The Lake of 1.25km, a longer walk around The Lake up a hill, along the fence line of fields and over a stream of 1.75km, and a more challenging walk to the 1066 Battlefields and Battle Abbey which is around 4km.

Important to note that these walks can occasionally get muddy in places so wearing the right attire is fundamental. Wellington boots, walking boots and trainers are advisable. We do provide some Wellington boots on site, subject to availability.

Fishing Lake

Course Fishing is available at the Hotel for Residents only. We are closed from mid-April to mid-June for conservation. Should you wish to fish in our lake at any point during your stay, please contact our reservations for more information. You are required to bring your own suitable equipment. The 24-hour fishing ticket is £35 per person which you can purchase on arrival with our reception.
