A Country House Hotel
The PowderMills is a beautiful Grade II listed Hotel in a restored Georgian Country House in acres of landscaped gardens, lakes, woods and fields within walking distance of the medieval town of Battle, the Abbey and the Battlefields of 1066.
Built in the 18th century as a Gunpowder Owner’s Residence, the property has seen many changes in its history, notable when it was restored and converted into the privately owned, charming Hotel it is today. The outside is enhanced by ancient wisteria and there are remains in the grounds of artifacts used for the manufacture of the gunpowder reputed to be the finest in Europe.
All en suite Bedrooms are individually furnished and have free Wifi. The Hotel is dog friendly and there are loads of great walks to enjoy with your dogs in the grounds and surrounding countryside. Ground floor rooms have direct access to the front garden and grounds. The Orangery Restaurant has been awarded two AA rosettes for its consistent high quality of cooking and excellent service and is open for both residents and non residents. During the winter months, afternoon cream teas are served in the cosy library or in the drawing room in front of a roaring log fire. Our dedicated staff are complimented for their friendly but courteous approach to guests and visitors and offer a relaxed home from home experience. As well as being a wonderful place to relax and unwind, PowderMills caters for weddings, conferences and private parties for up to 250 guests and is the perfect venue whatever the reason for your visit and combines a sense of history with comfortable hotel accommodation.
